I have three kids aged 3 months, 2 years, and 4 years. Even at University I managed to do my school work and still read for pleasure. Whenever I feel like I am slipping behind and not reading, I crack out of few of these books. I enjoy Plum series because they are easy to read, don’t require 100% attention, and the bright colors are a favorite of the 2 year old. She likes to stack and unstack and pull them off the shelves.
In Ten Big Ones Lula and Stephanie accidentally witness a convenient store robbery connected to gang activity in the area. This time Stephanie’s life is in real danger and she ends up using Ranger’s apartment as a safe house. She doesn’t necessarily feel the need to tell Ranger about this arrangement. Also, Sally Street, my favorite side character made a reappearance. There were portions of the book when I was actually laughing out loud. Sometimes Evanovich can create a ridiculously delightful scene, the culmination of this book is one such scene. This book did illuminate some of the mysteries surrounding Ranger, but only served to bring up more questions. Stephanie and Morelli also keep dancing around where their relationship is going. I can’t say that I think it can go anywhere with Ranger still so decidedly in the picture and I am not sure how long relationships in the ‘burg’ would fictitiously last. As I’ve said before, we need to see the end of this triangle soon. I am not so secretly hoping for a long break up with Morelli that leads to an eventual reunion and marriage, but that is just me.
As always, these books aren’t for everyone. They are fun. They are fluff. They can be read in a few hours.
